It isn’t, really. The color yellow is a purely human interpretation of a collection of radiation that hits the retinae of our eyes and gets processed by our visual cortex.
I found this at Ask the Astronomer, Dr. Sten Odenwald. He has some very interesting information about astronomy - just about anything you could wish to know!

To be honest I was not aware of this fact: I think I should have really as I was quite good at Science and Astrology, of course That has altered I know and I should have known this; and thank you for linking an old bloke as a link
ReplyI must apologise I hit the link twice
ReplyVery interesting, Heather. Great “yellow” post. Coming over to my blog for tea and chocolate cake? See you there.
ReplyI confess, I knew about it… but thanks for reminding and the great picture =)
Sorry for not visiting Beautiful British Columbia during the last week - we´ve had (better to say: Luis had) visitors who stayed a week after his christening so there was not much time to do anything but being a host.
Hope you don´t mind - I´m glad to be back!
Replywell i didn’t know it and even though i’m an old dog, i can still learn a new trick! thanks….
smiles, bee
ReplyHmm, I always saw it as orange.
ReplyTHAT is a gorgeous photo. interesting little tidbit too!
ReplyA very romantic explanation in deed, lol ! For a painter yellow is a cold color. The sun is more orange, that’s why it looks warmer. But if you stare into the yellow sun and you close your eyes you see green ! Complicated.
ReplyA great Yellow post!
ReplyAnd I will still just think of the sun as a sunny yellow!
Not radiation burning out my optic nerve! Ha!
Thanks for participating in
Manic Monday
cheers,
Manic Mo
