Being this close to the Manatees was amazing.
Prior to this I’d only see their backs as they swam in the Intracoastal Waterway, usually hanging around the pilings of the bridges.
They are fascinating to watch even though they are rather ugly. Apparently the sailors of long, long ago called them ‘mermaids’ (well, that’s the story I heard). If that’s what they compared the woman of their dreams to, their ‘grogg’ must have gone ‘off’ or they were blind drunk!

These are odd animals.
ReplyCool photos. I love Manatees. I have never seen one, but I really like the way they move.
ReplyHey there. We happen to be one of the sites you have linked to in the past. We are grateful for that.
We need you to change our address from anewtoneblog.blogspot.com to http://www.anewtone.com.
The new site will be online within days and you will be able to subscribe to the site feeds if you like. The new site is much better!
Thanks,

ReplyVery cool! Up close and personal!
ReplyThat must have been a very fun experience.
ReplyWonderful photos of the manatees. If the sailors likened the manatee to women, the women of the day must have been really ugly, haha. I think the manatee are beautiful for manatee, but not for human women.
