Wooden, plastic, fabric or metal?

Our 5288 Bayliner has standard beige venetian blinds on the windows and they are such a nuisance to clean. The only simple way to clean them is to unscrew every single blind, lay them flat on a picnic table and use a scrub brush, hot soapy water and the water hose.
It is a time consuming job - one I’d gladly give up if I could find wooden blinds to replace them as they would provide a more substantial surface to dust or wipe with a cloth.
My only problem will be deciding which color - do I go dark cherry to match the dark areas of teak or light honey or natural to match the oak floors? Would I be smarter to go with a ‘wooden’ look as plastic might be lighter in weight?
Does anyone have any quick tips for cleaning venetian type blinds? Want to demonstrate? Do I need to have someone come to the boat to measure or will I be able to do it myself? Oh, oh - this is starting to give me a headache…

Breathe! Easy does it there girl!
Decorating should be fun. I like the idea of the teak - it seems more nautical to me.
Have you tried those Swifter dusters? I use them on my blinds. Of course, I’m not at sea so I don’t know how well they’d work on a boat. But it’d be pretty cheap to find out - you can get them for less than $5.
ReplyUgh. I despise cleaning blinds too. I clean mine about the same way you describe…can’t think of a better way.
I’d go with the cherry wood - I love the look!
