Do you have a Facebook account? It’s a great way to share photos, communicate, learn and play interactive games with friends and strangers.
I’ve stored lots of photos on Facebook, mainly to save them to a site where I think they’ll be fairly safe (but, yes, I have photos on other sites as well, so as to not put all my eggs in one basket!). I really like the fact I can stay in touch with friends and relatives through simple communications with no expectations. I’m not always good at replying to emails or phone calls… as some of you may know!
Learning is never-ending, especially if you try to keep up to all the new applications available. Where the ideas come from, I cannot begin to fathom - there are some clever, thoughtful people in the world and at last they have a creative outlet which is readily available. I like that about the web!
As for playing games, Scrabulous was the first I tried. I love playing Scrabble or Literati online but found Scrabulous was too slow as most people played erratically - so I had to have 6 or more games going at once to fill my addictive persona quota.
From there, I went on to Pirates. It was cool setting booby traps on deserted islands for other pirates, trying to sink other ships and steal coins, entering the monkey and parrot races, even gambling in the tavern, but it soon got old as it wasn’t a quick game and took a lot of surfing to gain points.
Now, I’m on to Texas Hold ‘em and find it much more to my liking. It’s fairly quick paced and I am able to lose all my points in no time. Of course, then I have to wait until the next day for another free 500 points to be allocated to my account.
I’ve talked to people from all over the world, learning new words, small tidbits about other countries and ways of life. There are interesting people at the tables and of course there are annoying, ‘rub it in your face’, swearing, impatient, know-it-alls. It’s easy to move on to another table any time, playing a friendly game with newbies or a cut-throat game with the ‘big dogs’.
Facebook is a good time-waster for me while I’m sitting in the living room with Kent and Pop while they watch TV!
What do you do in your spare time?
Stumble It!
