College Pro Painters
Our Nico Wynd Townhouse project was in desperarate need of a facelift to update the 1980’s bluish/grey color scheme. Well, actually there was no scheme - everything was painted the same color - siding, trim, door steps, doors, chimneys - everything…. The previous paint contractor sprayed on the paint and the simplest, cheapest way to go was to paint it all the same color. There was absolutely no contrast and not a very attractive color.Last spring a new color scheme was chosen (a vote by the owners was held) and our facelift began. Of course not everyone liked the colors, once they saw their homes. Some wanted less dark trim, more dark trim, less dark walls, more dark walls, less light trim, more light trim - well, you get the idea? You can’t please everyone.
The painting contractor started out great guns and we were sure the whole complex would be complete by fall. By mid-summer he ran out of workers. His workers left, went elsewhere and he had trouble hiring more people at that late date - so our painting job is still not complete, but hopefully he will get started soon, now the weather is dryer and warmer.
I think the contractor would be very smart to hire College Pro Painters, which was founded by a college student in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1971. I’ve heard about them for years and they seem to be a very successful student painting company. The managers, who are franchisees, are full time college students and they paint an average of 30,000 homes per summer in communities throughout North America.
This seems like such a great opportunity for would-be young entrepreneurs to provide jobs for college students while providing a much needed service.
Labour is difficult to find here in BC with our booming housing market and the 2010 Olympics only 2 years away so I think College Pro Painters will do very well this summer! Please check them out if you are an entrepreneurial college student looking for a business to operate, a student looking for work or a homeowner thinking of a facelift for your home. You may apply online - right now!
