Squirrel Cove

It doesn’t seem to matter how many times we anchor in Squirrel Cove, it’s always a lovely place to spend the day – and to people watch.

As the tide rises, the lagoon becomes accessible via kayak or dinghy. We were anchored near enough the entrance to see as various boats came in to look. Most of them were not adventurous although 2 kayaks paddled in and bumped over the rocks. The slack tide was too late for us to want to go ashore. We played dominoes instead!

Earlier in the day we took the dinghy to the bakery to order cinnamon buns for morning, then went to the Squirrel Cove store and gift shop. The store was very well stocked and the gift store was fabulous. It’s well worth a visit. Local artists display their wares and staff the store. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, price and diversity of crafts.

Squirrel Cove is one of our favourites as well. One time we were they we took the dinghy over to the bakery. The baker met us on the front deck with the words, “I hope you aren’t here for a pie.” They were so busy the earliest we could get any baked goods was on the following day. But the smells were still worth the visit. I’m enjoying reading about about your recent cruise. We went on a quick cruise over the BC Day weekend and were surprised to see fewer people out than we expected. I guess the gas prices are keeping some people at the docks.

I invite you to come see some of my boating adventures. — Margy

The question is did you see any squirrels in Squirrel Cove?

My son likes squirrels so it would be a place to take him but you did not seem to mention seeing any squirrels!
