Good Cop – Bad Cop

My XShot camera extender goes everywhere with me as it’s small enough to fit in my purse and I find I use it nearly every time I go out!

Crystal and I drove to Blaine this afternoon to mail an XShot to my friend Jeremy from Gimme Blu Frog. At the US border, the Customs Officer asked where we were going and wanted to know what we ‘picking up’ when Crystal said we were going to the Post Office.

They’re tricky like that – trying to trip you up, hoping you’ll say something further on which they can question you! I know that question and my answer is often, ‘panties – I ordered some panties’. It’s certainly not a lie – I did order panties. For some reason that seems to stop the questioning as they quickly realize they’re not dealing with a drug smuggler or criminal, but a ditzy woman :)

Today, I was expecting nothing in the mail, and Crystal told the Officer I was going to mail a package, so then of course he wanted to know what was in the package. I started to explain but it’s not always easy to describe an XShot camera extender, especially to a Customs Officer who’s heard every story imaginable and was looking at me strangely. So, I dug in my purse, pulled out my XShot and screwed my camera on the end, handed it to Crystal (the driver) and she extended it toward him, smiling. Too bad I hadn’t set the timer before handing it to her – haha…. but then again, he may not have been amused!

Actually, he warmed up just a little and said his camera was too large to put on the XShot (I wasn’t sure if he was serious or if he meant the Customs camera). He then wanted to know how I could see what I was shooting if I was ‘in’ the picture. I said, ‘trial and error’, showed him the swivel head, then explained how perfect a flip LCD screen camera would work. I could see his eyes glaze back over and he could do nothing except agree, then waved us on with a, “Have a nice day ladies”, glad to see the last of us and hoping for some respect and awe from the occupants in the next car in line, I’m sure.

Crystal and I work very well together when it comes to playing the ‘good cop/bad cop’ roles and the men don’t usually stand a chance – even the Customs Officers! They usually end up shaking their heads as we drive away.

Now, I’m sure you’re saying it’s time you had an XShot – and I have a great deal to tell you of.

Until February 14 2009 XShotpix.com is offering free shipping, so you can buy yourself or your sweetheart the really cool gift of a telescoping XShot camera extender. BTW – if I was you, I’d probably pick up a beautiful bouquet of red and white flowers as well – just to use as a prop in the pictures of you and your sweetie.
