Sponsored Tweets @ IZEAFest

IZEAFest was a total blast, as you’ve most likely read on the various blogs of the attendees, like Adranter Master of Sarcasm Steve Hall, prolific Mommy Blogger Lisa Martin, who never sleeps, and my good friend, famous blogger Murray Newlands who is an amazing celebrity blogger interviewer.
Reading all the recaps of the 3 day ‘Social Media Conference of the Year’ sounded to me as though everyone received more valuable information, roller coaster rides, partying and networking than they could handle. I know I ended up sick as a dog when I returned home and required a few days to ‘catch up’ on my sleep and energy! Who else lost their voice?
I enjoyed listening to the very interesting speakers, learning, taking part in activities and networking with old friends and new, but now that I’m home, I’ve had time to go over the new options Ted Murphy announced for Sponsored Tweets. And, I have to say, I really like what I see.
A new ‘Sponsor Me’ badge may be placed on your blog or webpage to send potential advertisers directly to your public profile on Sponsored Tweets. (click to make the picture larger)

If a potential advertiser clicks on your badge, he will be able to check out your stats and immediately create an Opportunity especially for YOU.
When an advertiser hires you through your profile page they are also included in the referral program under your account. If they are a new advertiser you will earn 5% of Sponsored Tweets cut on every transaction that advertiser completes for a period of two years.
NOW, here comes the Super Cool Trickiness!
Everybody in SponsoredTweets has a public facing profile and you can use your referral code to point to any of them. Think you have a better chance of landing someone like John Chow or Zac Johnson a gig than you do of getting one yourself? You can do that by simply changing the link code of your own referral code.
If I want to create a link for an advertiser to sponsor John Chow I change the /heatherinbc?… to /johnchow? so it looks like this:
You can use this method to point to anyone’s profile page and get referral credit for the transaction.
Now, to me that is a very cool way to earn referrals!
I also learned more about how Sponsored Tweets works and what the suggested dollar amount is based on. Sponsored Tweeters may earn big money for tweeting one simple 140 character message on behalf of advertisers, but the amount an advertiser will pay a Tweeter is determined by a lot more than number of followers.
Here is an altered screenshot of the ‘Sponsor These Tweeters’ page to show my scores: (click to make the picture larger)
Click on User to see the Tweeters individual statistics.
In order to understand the statistics the Glossary explains in detail.
Here is a short recap of the stats you will see on the Tweeter’s page:
Price – this is the price the advertiser pays for a tweet with this Tweeter
Followers – how many follow this Tweeter giving the advertiser an idea of the potential reach
Friends – how many Twitterers this Tweeter follows
Ratio – the difference between friends & followers (followers/friends)-the higher the ratio the better
CPMF – Cost Per Thousand Followers
Grade – this is your Twitter Grader score
Kscore – this is your KLOUT score or influence
FAR – Follower Activation Rate is a measure of the percentage of people who click through – the higher the better!
I hope this helps you understand the changes in Sponsored Tweets and how your suggested price is determined. With this knowledge you may build a high quality following, make changes to increase your scores and earn more money!
