My flight and hotel are booked for Adtech in New York and I’m busy making plans for the 5 days and nights I’m there. As a contributor to the Adtech Blog, I’m going to be attending seminars and writing recap posts of my experiences, what I learn and what’s NEW in

“How Digital is Transforming All Media”.

Seminars will cover topics ranging from online video ads to social media to multi-channel marketing with over 200 speakers in 60 panel discussions. I need to choose wisely from the incredible lineup of speakers – and that’s NOT going to be easy.

The first session I’ve chosen to attend (after the Keynote of course) is “The Art of Conversation: Are You Listening?” moderated by Samantha Skey, CMO, Passenger, Inc.

The Panelists, Brett O’Brien, Director of Marketing, Mountain Dew, Melva Benoit, Senior VP, Consumer Insight and Audience Research, Fox Broadcasting Company and Michael Desmarais, VP, Strategic Insights and Research, Vh1/CMT/Logo will discuss how businesses interact with their customers by changing from monologue to dialogue in the digital age. Are you listening as well as talking?

I have a really great example to share with you, of a business that IS listening and carrying on a conversation with it’s customers in this evolving digital age. This morning a Tech Blogger friend of mine sent out a #followfriday on Twitter suggesting people follow me and I noticed @LasVegasHilton was mentioned as well. Joe attended Blog World Expo at the Hilton Convention Center and stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton last weekend.

I often follow people or businesses my friends suggest, so I clicked to the Las Vegas Hilton’s Twitter profile page and noticed they actually follow more people than follow them. That is extremely rare in my opinion and I really like when a business cares enough to follow back.

I followed @LasVegasHilton then tweeted:

Looks to me like @lasvegashilton follows their followers – that’s very friendly – I like it :)

Minutes later they retweeted my tweet and commented on it:

Thanks! We like u :) RT @HeatherinBC: Looks to me like @lasvegashilton follows their followers – that’s very friendly – I like it :)

To me that is the ultimate proof the Las Vegas Hilton knows how to use Social Media to connect with their customers and to participate in conversation. They are engaging in dialogue, using Twitter to maximize their reach and to create goodwill.

They totally GET IT! Way to go Las Vegas Hilton :)

I wonder if they have a representative attending Adtech to join the conversation about using digital media… if they are, you can bet I’ll be blogging about them on the Adtech Blog.
