Christmas Angel
On Saturday I’m putting on a class at the Egmont Heritage Centre Museum to make the cutest little angel Christmas tree decorations.
Here is a list of supplies if you’d like to make some too (it wouldn’t be cost effective to make just one):
1″ Wooden Ball for head
5″ White Tassel (4 inch) for dress
8″ White/Gold Cord for arms
3″ White Braid (1/2 inch) for neck edge
13″ White w/Gold edge Wired Ribbon (1 1/2 inch) for wings – or wire/mesh wings from craft store
13 Gold Ribbon (1/8 inch) for hangar
4 1/4″ Brass Wire (20 Gauge) for halo
Brass Spiral Scour Pad (found at London Drugs) for hair

Angel Christmas Tree Ornament
Glue Gun
Scissors
Tape Measure
Thread – white/gold or light colored
Wire cutter
Rouge for cheeks
Q Tips
Pigma Micron Pen # 01 for eyes and mouth
Choose the nicest side of the wooden ball to draw the eyes and nose & to lightly rouge the cheeks. Practice first on paper. If you make a mistake on the wooden ball you can always use the other side as it will be covered by ‘hair’.

Wrap the long tassel into a tight roll and hot glue it to the wooden ball below the face.
Tie a knot in the center of the white/gold braid to form arms with hands clasped. Hot glue each end at the back of the ‘dress’ just below the head.

Angel Christmas Tree Decoration
Form bow from the white/gold wired ribbon and trim ends on the diagonal. Use a long piece of thread to tightly wrap and tie around center of bow. Cut ends of thread short. Hot glue ribbon ‘wings’ over back neck edge covering the area where the arms are glued.
Fold 1/8 inch gold ribbon in half and tie loose ends together. Glue knot to top of wooden ball (head).
Cut brass scouring pad into 1″ sections and separate slightly to form curls. Glue small amounts onto wooden ball as hair, making a nice ‘do’ of ringlets, covering the knot of the hangar.
Gently form brass wire into a circle and use pliers to twist ends together to hold. Glue on top of head to form ‘halo’.
Hang your sweet faced little Angel decoration from your tree and enjoy the compliments!
If you cannot come to class to make an Angel, I’ve put together supplies in a kit which you may buy for $10.00, $5.00 of which I will donate to the Egmont Heritage Centre
Not sure what the mailing cost will be but it should be minimal as the package will be very light. Send me a message in the form below.

ReplyThose are such cute Angels! I have some on my tree but yours are much nicer. I think it’s the hair and the face that does it.
