While we were boating in the Broughton Archipelago this summer, the Pacific Whitesided Dolphins regularly played in our wake, accompanying us as though they were welcoming a friend to their waters. Each time I stepped out on deck to video them, they disappeared as though they were afraid of my big shadow on the water.
Luckily I caught this one as he surfed our wake.
I know as soon as Labour Day is over, my life will be awhirl with activity and events, the pace not slowing down until the Spring - back at Egmont. And, what do all these busy months lead up to? Well, Christmas of course!
This year, I think I’ll just suck it up and get on with buying the gifts I know I’ll need. Might as well be prepared, right…?
Okay, then let’s start with Christmas gifts for Mom. That’s ME! I’m easy - so it’s a great place to begin… oh, oh, yeah I was writing here wasn’t I? Sorry, I got sidetracked when I saw Hugo on a tote bag… Now, that’s darn cute - okay now - that’s on my list to order.
Now, what other gifts will I buy? UH, OH - this pendant tore my heart strings apart. How sweet is this adorable pendant? I don’t think any Grandma could pass by without buying at least one! Here is the note which accompanies the pendant:
Dear Granddaughter,
This is a very special gift
That you can never see
The reason it’s so special is
It’s just for you from me.
Whenever you are lonely,
or even feeling blue
You only have to hold this gift
and know I think of you.
You never can unwrap it
Please leave the ribbon tied.
Just hold the box close to your heart
It’s filled with Love inside.
One more to show you, before I’m off to place my order - who can pass up a Thomas Kincade collectible? A Crystal Christmas Tree - well, I think it’s made to order!
Back to reality here for a bit… it is early September and the sun is shining. I know the gift giving will be simplified if I shop at collectiblestoday.com so I’ll be back later to order. Right now I’m going out for a walk with Hugo to enjoy the Fall! Winter will be here very soon.
I’ve uploaded a few photos of our spring and summer at Egmont, on Facebook. You can see how much fun we have and how hard we work!

Kent was calling to me from the boat to row closer to the black bear. I was hesitant to go too close but kept inching toward him until he turned his head to have a good look at me. Yikes, bears can swim you know. It was time to quit taunting him! If Kent was running the dinghy with the motor it would have been a different matter - I’d have been really brave.
When I finally realized Kent wanted to get a photo of me in the dinghy with the bear in the background I decided he wasn’t trying to get rid of me after all!
Remember when the phone was used as a tool of harassment, obscene calls, prank calls and by generally annoying perverts? I think that’s a thing of the past, luckily. I never hear anymore of kids phoning the neighbour to ask if his fridge is running, then when he says, “Yes, of course”, they tell him he better go chase it as they saw it running down the street.
Now obscene or perverted calls were a totally different matter - as frightening as they could sometimes be, they were good for office gossip! Oh, never mind… I don’t think I’ll share those with you!
Phone Lookup Registry offers a solution to most annoying phone calls. If you know the phone number, you can find LOTS of information about the registered owner! Beware callers - don’t ever think you can hide if you are misusing the phone.
Even unlisted numbers in the USA and Canada are now publicly available with name, address and more on the reverse lookup directory. Want to know who owns a cell number? Check out the directory for area codes then see if your information is listed. There is a charge for ‘instant access’ to the registered owners name and address - but it’s all there. There is also a great deal on a one year unlimited lookup fee for this very valuable service.
Don’t call me, okay - I’ll call you!
