Postie of the Month Award

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Imagine my surprise today, when the mail lady dropped off a ‘green box’ and I opened it to find this:

The koozie, mouse pad, pin and SocialSpark tee shirt were exciting enough to receive, but I was totally shocked and oh, so very delighted to find this March 2008 “Postie of the Month” award - with my name engraved.

IZEA, you are awesome!!!

How many other companies recognize their employees with such fun, exciting gifts? NONE… ever.

I love writing ‘opps’ for the brand new SocialSpark, which emerged from ‘Alpha’ testing today to Beta. It was a huge day for all the IZEA staff, and made very, very memorable for me, by this token of their regard.

Thanks IZEA, for including me in your exciting adventure and being such a wonderful part of my life!

Stop Being a ‘Mommy’?!?

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

When I was a young Mommy… No, wait - I am still a young Mommy - just not so ‘young’ any more, but once a Mommy always a Mommy. Doesn’t matter how old your kids manage to grow or how many years pass by, you’re still Mommy. When you’re given that title for 20 plus years, it’s going to stick!

There was nothing more I wanted to do when my kids were young, than stay home, to be there for them when the school called to say a tummy was upset, or to go on the field trips, or to help out on hot dog day. I wanted to be in the kitchen with fresh baked cookies cooling when they ran in the door, home from school with a million things to tell me.

I knew I wanted to write, but I also knew the only way that would ever pay would be for me to freelance for a newspaper. I did consider it seriously as I always had lots to say, but the thought of spending hours in a library, researching, meeting deadlines and still being there for my kids was enough to make me realize that wasn’t much better than getting a regular job with regular pay.

I absolutely love the fact SocialSpark gives this huge opportunity to earn income ‘at home’, especially to Mommy Bloggers. Some of the most interesting Mommy’s I meet in the blogosphere are incredibly intelligent, usually opinionated (which is a big help if they are asked to write a review of a product) and a generation more ’street smart’ in today’s ‘instant life’.

SocialSpark offers Mommy Bloggers (and others of course) the ability to work from home, be with their kids when necessary, AND to earn money doing something they already love to do - write. Now, how do you get started?

Sign up for the SocialSpark newsletter as a first step. You’ll be in the loop and invited to join just as soon as the new site opens to the public. And, it’s coming - soon! It is in Alpha testing now - and I was one of the first 10 testers with a Golden Ticket which allowed me early access! I’m here to say - SocialSpark is going to be awesome and will provide innovative ways to earn money blogging - while doing the job you love - raising your children.

Come on Mommy Blogger’s, this train is about to pull out of the station. Jump aboard - SocialSpark is looking for YOU!

Mother’s Day Idea - Digital Photo Frame!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Wouldn’t a digital photo frame make a perfect Mother’s Day gift? It would if I was the Mom receiving it! I love the idea of storing my photos digitally and being able to show them off without pulling out an album, or the shoebox.

Actually, a digital photo frame has so many applications, it boggles my mind. Imagine a travel agent showing a selection of vacation hot spots - I’d stop to look for sure. Many companies could benefit from advertising digitally - in their office reception areas, in display windows, even in elevators.

As a corporate gift, the digital photo frame would no doubt be much appreciated by employees or customers. The frames may be ‘branded’ with the company logo or the ‘wake up screen’ may automatically play an ad before photos are played. What a great advertising suggestion!

I hear people say they never look at their digital pictures on their computers or cameras and many people don’t have photos printed. This would be a great solution to showing off your latest pictures. Here’s an idea - a digital frame would make a fabulous baby gift for Mom and Dad to record their child’s important life events. Okay, the ideas are endless in my mind. Now, I know I need one.

Digital Frames Direct is the largest wholesaler in the UK, supplying Europe and America with digital photo frames. Check the selection and the prices - they are actually very, very reasonable! How easy is the setup? Plug it in, insert memory card and watch your photos. The only complicated part of owning a digital photo frame is choosing which one you’d prefer!

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11!

What is a Golden Ticket?

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Apparently, I’m getting one - and it sounds like a good thing, doesn’t it?

Ted, from Izea, started a forum topic entitled ‘Golden Ticket’ and said 10 posties were selected to receive one. There is much speculation on the topic as people try to get more information from Ted, and try to guess what he has up his sleeve now. He loves to tease - and drag the suspense out as long as possible!

Well, I’m very excited and looking forward to my Golden Ticket. I believe we’ll find out THIS week and I will no doubt let you know! Perhaps it is a ticket to go somewhere… or perhaps it’s a ticket which will give me entrance to something… whatever it may be, I am positive it will be exciting!

Dear Google,

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

You gave me some of my Page Rank back on one of my blogs - thanks, I guess. I really don’t care very much anymore, but I’ll take it. You hurt my feelings last year when you knocked my rank right out from under me, but my blogs and I survived without you.

Why are you so inconsistent? If you give page rank back on one blog, why not all? Seems to me there’s not much reliability on your part.

I am a very forgiving person, you know - so you can stick around for a while if you want. If not, go ahead and disappear. I have RealRank now and don’t rely on you.

RealRank is consistent - it increases and decreases using a formula we can all understand and directly relates to the amount of traffic my blog generates. The harder I work, the luckier I get!

Ciao Google!
