Dragonflies are incredibly beautiful but they scare me.

While power boating last summer, I found this beauty on the inside of the boat window ledge and had to photograph it before trying to gently shoo it outside, without getting bitten. Ya, ya - I know they don’t bite, but they are SO frantic and noisy and big - they remind me of Cicadas. And, what if it flew at my face or worse - my hair. I can imagine a helicopter getting tangled in my hair and then I’d have to… oh, well, never mind.
Take a good look at the brilliant coloring, markings and delicate wings - that’s certainly Mother Nature at her best!

Rest
easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know
the line has held, your job is done.
Rest
easy, sleep well.
Others
have taken up where you fell, the line has
held.
Peace,
peace, and farewell…
You may be interested to know these wreaths — some 5,000 — are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He’s done this since 1992. Most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.
Soldier’s Angels help soldiers and their families in time of need and send care packages to overseas soldiers. Gallery Collection donated greeting cards as well as a blank card for the soldier to send to his family or friend. These cards will be included in the care package. I think it is a lovely gesture on behalf of Gallery Collection.
Do you buy Christmas Cards to send to friends? I really like the cards which say Merry Christmas, after all that is the message I want to convey to my friends and family!
Please watch my very short video (30 seconds) to learn more about purchasing cards from Gallery Collection and supporting Soldier’s Angels!
Are you making ’shoeboxes’ for Operation Christmas Child this year?
Last year Crystal and I put together 4 shoe boxes and had so much fun looking for cool gifts to put in each. We went to the dollar store and were amazed at how many good things you can pick up for just a few dollars. You may use your own shoe box or pick up one from Safeway, then have fun filling it. (Wrapping is not required).
The directions are simple:
1. Choose to fill a shoe box for a girl or a boy - age 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14.
2. Fill box with new gift items such as toys, pens, crayons, calculator, books, toothbrush, hard candy, t-shirts, socks, ball caps, hair clips, jewelry, sunglasses, balls, yo-yo’s…
3. Do not include liquids, perishables, breakables, food, harmful or scary items.
4. Include a donation of $7.00 or more - to cover shipping, etc.
5. Drop off the shoebox at Safeway or check online for your nearest drop off location.
This is such a lovely way to give to the needy children of the world!
Now, I have a request… if you travel throughout the year you will no doubt see wrapped bars of soap in your hotel room. Please pick them up and drop them in your suitcase. When you have 1000 saved, mail them to me. No, just kidding… don’t send them to me.
But seriously, that’s all it takes - pick up the freebies wherever you go - such as at trade shows - ball caps, key chains, t-shirts, toys, stickers, etc are all readily available. Buy an extra package of crayons, pens and pencils next time you are shopping, then make a shoebox - or donate the items to someone in your area who is putting together multiple boxes.
Such a simple gift is powerful!
